The four things people ask about most
- The extension is desktop only. Browser extensions of this kind don't run on phones or tablets. The website itself works everywhere, including offline.
- The extension installs manually for now. It is finished and working, but its Chrome Web Store listing is still in review — normal for any extension that reads page content. Manual installation takes about a minute and gives you the identical extension. Nothing is being withheld and there is nothing to wait for.
- Hindi is not in this release. Every Hindi concept, illustration, recording and translation is already built. It is held back until a native-speaker review is finished, because shipping unverified translations would undermine the whole point of the product.
- Example sentences aren't in yet. They're the next content addition, and they're included free once they land.
- The library is 1,000 concepts, not 5,000. The remaining 4,000 are in production, and every one of them is included in what you've already bought.
What you get without paying
The visual dictionary is free permanently — all 1,000 concepts in Japanese and English, search, audio, notes and custom categories, with no account needed just to browse. The free tier also unlocks your first 200 concepts for flashcards, review and hover lookup. It isn't a trial and it doesn't expire.
Paying removes the 200-concept limit for one language pair and adds Anki export. Full detail is on the Pricing page.
How this page gets updated
Items move between the three columns as they ship. If something here is out of date, or a feature you were expecting isn't listed at all, that's worth telling me about — get in touch and it will be answered by a person.
Found something broken? Bug reports and wrong translations are the most useful thing you can send. Every report is read, and corrections ship in the next update at no cost to anyone who has already bought a pair.
